Viktor & Marlize :: Wedding, Rietbron
I’ve always wanted to capture the beauty of a Karoo wedding, so when Marlize approached me to take the photos of their wedding, I didn’t hesitate to say “YES!”.
The wedding was held on a family farm near Rietbron in the Great Karoo (Eastern Cape) and I was amazed at how much work and effort the owner and his helpers had put into the planning of the wedding, from how they transformed a small garage and the shed into the chapel and reception hall, to the home made “rooster koek”, the attention to detail everywhere, the cool sign showing the guests where the toilets are and how they turned a small room next to the reception area into the bar, with Coca-Cola fridges and the works!
Since Marlize and my wife are colleagues and good friends, we were also invited as guests and thus we ended up turning what would have been a weekend wedding, into a two week holiday in the Karoo and Western Cape region.
The weather was miserable, overcast with a strong and icy cold wind but that didn’t stop the couple or their guests from having a great time.
Viktor & Marlize, thank you so much for being able to spend time with you guys and to have captured your wedding!
This almost caused chaos – Marlize ripped her dress while on the trampoline but luckily they were able to do a quick fix.
